My Mission Statement - I believe that all people are born with unique gifts and talents, and that as a teacher, my job is to help my students discover these areas in which they can find success. Through this process, my goal is to help them achieve to the best of their abilities so that they can become productive members of society and reach their own personal aspirations!
Hello, I'm Elizabeth Benz. I'm grateful to be teaching at Norway-Vulcan Public Schools! I graduated from Northern Michigan University with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor/certification in Science and Language Arts for teaching Middle School. I'm a native to the Iron Mountain/Kingsford area, and I'm grateful to be able to raise my children in this wonderful community in the beauty of the Upper Peninsula! From the time I was a small child, I've always been a lover of nature and been very curious about the "workings" of the world around me. At an early age, I was inspired by several people in my life who worked in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) related careers, which inspired me to pursue learning as much as I could about Science. This eventually lead me to the desire to become a teacher in order to inspire kids to ask questions, be curious, and become the next generation of problem-solvers in order to make our world a better place! I love spending time with my family! We enjoy camping, fishing, hiking, and biking during the summer months. In the winter, you'll most likely find us on a ski hill somewhere in the U.P. of Michigan! Another activity I love is visiting different museums and zoos, and traveling to National Parks across the United States!
